Timezone Glitch Gives Half the Platform Two Wednesdays — The Other Half Skips Wednesday Entirely

A daylight saving time synchronization failure introduced by Monday's infrastructure update has fractured the MetaCity calendar into two incompatible realities. Users in Shards 1–40 are currently experiencing their second Wednesday in a row. Users in Shards 41–80 jumped directly from Tuesday to Thursday and are furious about missing a scheduled auction.

The root cause has been traced to a timezone offset correction routine introduced in Monday's infrastructure update, which was designed to address a minor timestamp drift affecting event scheduling across Shards 41–80. Instead of correcting the drift, the routine applied an overcorrection that advanced the calendar by exactly one day for those shards, while simultaneously applying an equal and opposite correction to Shards 1–40 that rolled their calendars back by one day. The result: as of Tuesday night, half the platform entered Wednesday and then entered it again, while the other half entered Thursday.

The practical consequences have been significant. An inter-shard property auction scheduled for Wednesday afternoon — involving 14 premium plots in the Gold District with a combined floor value of 2.8 million MetaCoins — was attended only by users from Shards 1–40, since Shard 41–80 users had already moved past Wednesday and been automatically locked out of the scheduled event window. Bids placed during the auction are now legally contested, as the sellers were on Shards 41–80 and were technically operating on a different day of the week at the time of sale.

Wednesday, Again

The social fallout has been characterized primarily by deep exhaustion from users in the double-Wednesday shards, many of whom report having replayed identical scheduled events, recurring automated messages, and daily login bonuses twice in a row. "I attended the same meditation class at 7 AM on Wednesday and then attended it again 24 hours later, also on Wednesday," wrote @Sundial_Ria in a post that resonated widely. "My instructor greeted me like she had never seen me before. I am going to be sick."

MetaCorp's calendar reconciliation team has advised that resolving the divergence without creating a third category of affected users — those caught in the transitional correction window — is proving technically complex. A proposed fix involves forcibly synchronizing all shards to a single canonical timestamp, but this would mean that Shard 41–80 users would effectively experience a 24-hour "time reversal" that rolls them back to Wednesday. Community response to this proposal has been, in a word, hostile.
